Regan Checchio, Vice President for Public Affairs, has been managing and staffing civic engagement and public affairs projects for Regina Villa Associates (RVA) for more than ten years.  Regan manages many of RVA's public health, transportation and emergency preparedness projects and conferences.  She works closely with state and federal public health agencies, including the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Massachusetts Department of Transportation and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health.

 

Regan's public affairs efforts  include organizing and staffing meetings; drafting media materials and preparing fact sheets and flyers; working with team members on strategic planning and implementation of media and outreach plans; and administering and uploading content to project websites.

 

Regan also coordinating numerous conferences and meetings on public health and emergency preparedness projects, including the Heinz Family Foundation conferences on Women’s Health and the Environment (for 11 years); Patient Navigation conference series (2011 and 2010) for Women and Men's Health Partnership at DPH; Making Connections: Supporting Women Who Have Served in the Military conference for USHHS Office of Women's Health and U.S. Department of Labor, Women's Bureau (2010); Voices of Experience: Leadership during a Disaster for MA Regions 4AB and 5 and DPH (2011); Pandemic Flu Public Engagement Project for the Emergency Preparedness Bureau at DPH (2010); Altered Standards of Care conference for Harvard School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University and DPH (2009), and other events.

 

Current projects include the 93Fast14 project (MassDOT); Grounding McGrath (MassDOT); Old Colony Commuter Rail Tie Replacement Project (MBTA); Multimodal Plan – Phase 2 (MassDOT); Medical Reserve Corps Program for MA (DPH); and,  Office on Women's Health Region 1 Meeting (USDHHS). 

 

Regan received her MA from the University of Iowa in 1996.  Prior to joining RVA, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Iowa Social Science Institute.  There, she assisted in developing questions for U.S. and international phone surveys.  She also analyzed data and prepared press releases and presentations based on survey results.
